Day One.
Over the weekend, we at Headstock Distribution were at Music Live representing Ibanez, Laney, Tama and Ritter bags. For those who don't know, Music Live is an annual UK premier consumer music instrument show where the greater public can check out a sublime variety of music making products.
Doors opened at 10am on Friday and being educational day, thousands of people were shoe horned into the showing revelling in the fact they had a whole day off school, and that was just the teachers!
Since our booth was located at the main entrance, we were pretty much inundated with keen musicians from the word go.
All of our brands performed strongly throughout the show, with the public particularly interested in trying out the Ibanez Prestige guitars, which for most people we spoke to was their dream guitar. The day was spent answering product related questions, demonstrating it and letting the public pose with their dream guitars! Each evening was spent cleaning sticky fingerprints from the guitars!
Ritter bags caused a lot of interest, being the one of very few instrument protection brands to offer some serious pointy guitar bags, which sold like hot cakes.
Finally, Laney had a particular buzz throughout the show with the public commenting on how good they look and sound. The public were eager to tryout the all-new CUB and PRISM range plus the ever-popular VC range. All Laney amps had serious workouts during show!
Day Two.
A little more sedated with the profile being much more focused toward astute player, which also saw a member of the public playing Jazz on John Schofield JSM1000 signature model!
The general trends on day 2 out there was definitely rock and metal. Rock riffs were played throughout the day with varying degree of proficiency! Ibanez 7 strings are still very hot as are Laney tube amps, if you will pardon the pun.
Overall day 2 audience were more switched onto the merits of a nice set of red-hot tubes, LC and VC were the flavour of the day. Plus lets not forget the drummers either. Large numbers of drummers walked around stick in hand hitting anything that looked vaguely like a drum kit. Our tama eye candy kits were drooled over and required more than one wipe down during the show!
Day Three.
Final day at Music Live was livelier with higher footfall compared to Saturday with interest from the public following the same trends as previous days, again a lot of interest in the Ibanez acoustic products in particular Ibanez acoustic basses.
In all, Music Live was a vibrant show, which confirmed Ibanez, Laney, Tama and Ritter as premier brands in the eye of the general public, so lets roll on the next show!
